Sizzling return to Southsea Food Festival
The popular Southsea Food Festival, organised by Portsmouth City Council, attracted thousands of visitors to the centre of Southsea to taste, sample and buy from some of the best food and drink producers in the area.
Councillor Steve Pitt, Cabinet Member for Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Economic Development said:
“We were delighted to ensure that Southsea Food Festival returned. The event was as popular as ever. All ages enjoyed the food and entertainment that Southsea has to offer. Southsea Food Festival is an important community event that supports our businesses and local economy. “
Food lovers had a wide choice of goodies from freshly made ice cream, Belgian fires, takoyaki, arancini, afternoon tea and Portsmouth’s own rum. This year the event covered a bigger area, taking in Palmerston, Clarendon and Osborne roads and Avenue De Caen to allow plenty of room for safe browsing. There was also live music featuring local musical talent, which was organised by Southsea venue, The Wedgewood Rooms.
Southsea Food Festival is part of a programme of events and markets in Portsmouth run by the council’s business team to support the economic development of independent businesses. Along with the markets, Christmas light switch on events, the food festival increases footfall to the high street and highlights some of Portsmouth’s best businesses.
